What an absolute honor to be able to celebrate not only North Carolina A&T State University’s. homecoming centennial, but it also is my 30th anniversary of graduating as a school educator! I went on to get a master’s degree as well from North Carolina A&T State University in school administration, and I have been serving the community in the field of education for more than 30 years. I’ve had the privilege of working with students from pre-K all the way up to middle college as a teacher, coach, mentor, tutor, assistant principal and principal.
I am a servant leader and community-oriented. I believe I have been blessed with the opportunity to collaboratively complete important work. I am an example of what my former professor and chancellor Dr. Edward C. Fort would refer to as among the best and brightest to make impact in our community. My path to this present space is filled with countless success stories of helping young people learn, develop and grow into productive citizens. Teachers, students and parents alike all know that Ms. Jacobs loves the students, will help staff grow, supports parent education and involvement and is a community advocate.
I am an Aggie educator who dedicated my career to serving in excellence and caring for the creative, talented and amazing young leaders in Rockingham County, North Carolina, for a year, abroad in England for a year, and in Guilford County Schools in North Carolina for 29 years. My life’s work has been focused on concepts my parents instilled and N.C. A&T cultivated. Among the various experiences I’ve been fortunate to have, one of the greatest for me was being recognized by ASCD as 2014 Whole Child Award winner because the work I was able to collaboratively accomplish as a public Montessori school principal was acknowledged. I truly appreciated being affirmed as a leader for such a prestigious international award based on the love, care and support of students, parents and our school community through connected services and consistently meeting needs and helping students succeed.
There is an Aggie legacy I’ve been fortunate to be a part of: Aggies create, Aggies build, Aggies do for others. There are thousands of us out here doing the work!
